Driven by our passion to protect the planet, EXTREME is creating the EXTREME Hangout at COP26, the UN’s global climate change conference.
From 1st until 12th November 2021, Glasgow will host the world’s leading climate change conference, the most significant climate event since the 2015 Paris Agreement. The summit will bring global leaders, scientists and organisations together under the shared mission of accelerating action on climate change. With a predicted attendance exceeding 30,000, this year’s conference is set to spark and drive vital conversations about the future of our planet and how we can best come together to tackle the critical issues facing the world today.
The younger generation is set to be the most affected by climate change, and EXTREME believes that their influence and action is key to its deceleration. Having been underrepresented in previous years, EXTREME is creating a platform for the new generation of environmentalists to ensure their voice will be heard.
“The Hangout will represent a coming together and celebration of all those who share a passion for the healthy recovery of our natural world”
EXTREME is bringing this hub around COP26 to life, augmenting and amplifying the voices of COP through hosting the EXTREME Hangout. A centre of engagement, interaction and inspiration, the Hangout will represent a coming together and celebration of all those who share a passion for the healthy recovery of our natural world. Manifesting at the Ferry, a famous entertainment venue moored at Anderston Quay on the river Clyde, the EXTREME Hangout is just a short walk to the Glasgow Exhibition Centre, the venue of COP, and is en route to the city centre.
We have partnered with One Young World, the largest global forum for young leaders, who bring an unrivalled level of experience and curation in uniting young leaders from every corner of the world. Throughout the twelve days of the event, globally renowned opinion leaders and experts will speak at our panel discussions. With each day being met with a different theme, ranging from youth and future generations, sport and climate action, green jobs, women and climate, food and farming, oceans and health and climate, the key aspects across the broad sustainability sector will be debated.
Over the course of the twelve days, the EXTREME Hangout will be brought to life with leading local caterers supplying food & drink, musicians bringing the noise, fan experiential zones entertaining, hangout zones sparking debate & conversation, and most importantly, high profile panelists and environmental thought leaders providing education and sparking debate. With a capacity of up to 600, the EXTREME Hangout will give those present the opportunity to relax and unwind, being THE place to be inspired and entertained.
“...with the realisation that many of the sports we love and cherish are now at risk due to the climate crisis, EXTREME is taking action to ensure we are both operating sustainably as a company and inspiring others to act.”
Since our inception in 1995, EXTREME has passionately promoted a sustainable coexistence between humans and the natural world. However, with the realisation that many of the sports we love and cherish are now at risk due to the climate crisis, EXTREME is taking action to ensure we are both operating sustainably as a company and inspiring others to act.
The planet is our playground, and we have therefore committed to the “United Nations Sports for Climate Action”, the “Planet Mark” and “1% For the Planet”, meaning we are now simultaneously using tangible data to measure our carbon footprint whilst donating 1% of our annual revenue to non-profit partners. The next phase of our sustainability mission will take place at COP26.
Whilst furthering our sustainability journey, the EXTREME Hangout will also provide partners and organisations the means by which they can spread their environmental messages and learnings. It is on this basis that we are offering a unique opportunity for brands and organisations to have an authentic presence at COP26. Partners will showcase their environmental initiatives and commitment to climate action whilst partaking in explorative debates and discussions.
EXTREME’s vision is to drive positive change through extreme & adventure sports and we are welcoming conversations with others who share the same passions and beliefs. If you believe this is you and you would like to be involved, please email ryan@extremeinternational.com to express your interest.
